The Yankees opened as a -111 favorite and moved to +103. At more recreational books, the line has dropped from Yankees -122 to -106. This makes us want to study the Red Sox a bit more.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH Stephen Tarpley (0-0, 6.48 ERA) vs. Red Sox LH Eduardo Rodriguez (8-4, 4.87)
Chad Green was expected to be the opener for this one but he was forced to toss two innings of relief after Masahiro Tanaka was chased in the first, prompting the shift to Tarpley, who has made 10 relief appearances for the Yankees. The team optioned lefty Nestor Cortes Jr. following the game after he threw three frames and they will add Chance Adams to the roster Sunday to eat up some innings in relief. The 24-year-old Adams is 1-0 with a 3.97 ERA in three games with New York this year and made his only career start in the majors last year against the Red Sox, allowing three runs in five innings of a loss at Fenway Park.
Rodriguez gave up five runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox on Monday while striking out four, his second-lowest total of the season. He has allowed eight home runs in five June starts after serving up just three over his previous seven outings. The 26-year-old has yet to face the Yankees this year but owns a 3.89 ERA in 14 career matchups (12 starts).
This one was starting at 10:10 am ET.
The line on Philadelphia has sat on -129 without much of a line movement.
