Monday Night Football odds featuring the Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys opened at Dallas -9 ½.  The line has actually dropped down to -8  ½ at BetUS.com, perhaps due to the Cowboys loss last week as well as Marion Barber injury concerns.  Carolina may be 0-2 but the betting action on this game was nearly dead even.

Both Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme and Dallas quarterback Tony Romo have struggled with turnovers early in the season with five and three interceptions respectively. There has already been talk of Delhomme losing his job if he continues to make costly mistakes. While Romo is in no danger of being benched, he has to perform much better than he did in the national spotlight against the Giants.

Marion Barber is averaging 6.3 yards per carry through two games but is questionable for Monday night.

The Panthers have a dynamic running back duo with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

One would expect the Carolina Panthers to play like it's a matter of life or death Monday night.  Unlike their first game against Philadelphia, the Panthers at least kept the loss last week in Atlanta to single digits.  In that game, Jake Delhomme, who had thrown nine interceptions in his previous two games (including a playoff loss to the Cardinals), threw another pick but recorded his 10th 300-yard passing game, a Panthers record.

"It couldn't be any worse than last week," said Delhomme, referring to his four-interception, one-fumble fiasco in a 38-10 loss to Philadelphia. "I felt good out there today. Last week, I put too much pressure on myself. This week, I got back to being just plain Jake."

Dallas has beaten Carolina their last three head-to-heads, all on the road.  Only one of those wins was a margin larger than the current 8 ½ point spread however.   It should be noted that, though Dallas is 7-2 in the last 10 against Carolina dating back to 1997, they would be 1-8 ATS using the current 8 ½ point spread over this same period of time.   Only in 2006 was there a Dallas blowout in this series.

Another vital stat: The Panthers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss.  They are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss.

The Cowboys 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a S.U. loss.
Week 3 Monday Night Football odds had actually fallen all the way down to Cowboys -7 ½ at the Las Vegas Hilton.
