The incident occurred Monday afternoon around 4:30 pm.  A friend of Musitano parked in the driveway of his home was spooked by something, backed out of the driveway, and crashed into the Mercedes.  He was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Three men where seen fleeing the scene, shedding their clothes as they ran.  All three men were described as black, ages 25 to 30, one wearing a mask, another having removed a bag from the Mercedes.

From The Standard:

The owner of the other car involved, a 25-year-old man from Montreal, was arrested on suspicion of failing to remain at the crash and conspiracy to commit murder of the 76-year-old, but was released without charge because of insufficient evidence at this time, said Det. Sgt. Peter Thom, of the Hamilton police major crime unit.

In what has become a hallmark of investigations into the resurgence of Mafia violence in the area, police are getting little co-operation from all involved, he said.

Two years prior to this incident, Musitano's home at the same address as the scene of Monday's incident had been sprayed with bullets.

Pat, the reputed scion of the crime family that shares his name, survived being shot multiple times in a Mississauga parking lot in April.

Musitano was not believed to be in the home at the time of the incident.

During the late 1990's, Musitano was in charge of a sports betting ring which brought in as much as $100,000 in bets per week.
