380 Detained in Online Gambling Bust
Police in Vietnam have arrested more than 380 Chinese nationals, all between the ages of 18 and 24, for allegedly operating an illegal gambling ring in the port city of Hai Phong, police said on Monday. The group is believed to have processed over $435m in bets.
The arrests were made on Saturday when police raided numerous buildings, discovering machines and devices designed for online gambling activities including nearly 2,000 smart phones, 533 laptops, cash and ATMs, police said in a statement.
"This is a criminal organisation with a new and sophisticated method of operation, implemented on cyberspace, organised under the 'cover' of foreign investment enterprises in Vietnam," a statement from police read.
"This case also involves the largest number of foreigners and the largest amount of gambling and online betting ever discovered in Vietnam."
$300,000 Jackpot Hit With $5 Bet

Report: Crown Used Junket Operators With Links to Drug Traffickers
Australian casino giant Crown Reorts shares fell following reports the company used junket operators with links to drug traffickers to bring high-rolling Chinese gamblers to its Australian casinos.

“Whistleblowers ... refer to Crown as The Vatican, because of the attitude among Victorian politicians and police that Crown is treated like an independent city state where the normal laws of the land don’t apply," independent MP Andrew Wilkie said to Parliament last week.
He was seeking to have Crown Casino probed by the state’s anti-corruption authority over claims of money laundering, poker machine tampering and domestic violence.

First Ever Super High Roller Bowl London and British Poker Open
Aspers Casino in Stratford, London is the chosen venue for the inaugural British Poker Open, a 10-event festival running from Sept. 2 through Sept. 12 and featuring tournaments with buy-ins starting at £10,000 and increasing to £100,000.
