Man Who Tried to Extort High Stakes Gambler With Sex Tape Indicted

A 27-year-old man was indicted by a Nevada grand jury last week for attempting to extort a professional gambler for $100,00.  Russian transplant living in Vegas, Fredi Kazimirsky threatened to release a video of the two having sex.

The male victim, who lives in another state, is not named in court documents.

From the Las Vegas Review Journal:

According to a criminal complaint, filed July 1, Kazimirsky first met the man in a hotel room on the Strip in April or May. The two “consumed alcohol and drugs and had an intimate encounter,” the complaint reads, describing Kazimirsky as a prostitute.

After the encounter, the two kept in touch over texts. In June, they agreed to meet in Las Vegas again, but the plans fell through.

“So let me get this straight,” Kazimirsky texted the man, according to the complaint. “You are not going to meet me?”

Kazimirsky later admitted to secretly video recording the sexual encounter on a hidden phone.  He then threatened to sell the video to TMZ and various porn sites.

“I don’t play no games. And don’t try anything funny for me (sic)," one message read.

The alleged blackmailer said he was going back to Russia for good.

Kazimirsky was taken into custody June 28 after the gambler, having already contacted the FBI, agreed to meet with him at an off-Strip hotel, claiming only to have $54,000 on hand to pay for the footage.

Kazimirsky, who admitted to sending the texts but claimed he was only joiking, faces one count of use of a facility of interstate commerce to promote extortion. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

A jury trial is scheduled for October 7.
