The Michigan Wolverines vs. Michigan State Spartans Line continued to sit at Michigan State -3 ½ after opening early on at Wolverines -1.

The line had moved from Spartans -2 to -3 ½ at Sports Interaction during the day on Thursday.

The line is not likely to move beyond -3 ½ since the betting action is now even for the most part.  Michigan State was getting slightly more action however.

The Wolverines have won 6 of the last 7 against the Spartans.  The one loss came last year.

The 4-0 Wolverines are finding ways to win games, while the 1-3 Spartans keep discovering new ways to lose them, writes Bruce Hooley of Fox Sports.

Hooley explains the "desperation mode" Michigan State is currently in:

Picked third in the Big Ten's preseason poll, the Spartans had a 2-0 start in their hands, leading Central Michigan, 27-26, after denying a two-point conversion attempt at home with 32 seconds remaining.

All MSU had to do was recover an on-side kick. (Uh-oh.)

OK, so then all it had to do was stop Central from advancing into field-goal range from its own 47-yard line. (Uh-oh.)

Three completions later, all MSU had to do was block the field goal.

It didn't, but Central missed the kick.

Uh-oh, Michigan State was offside.

So Central, of course, hit the 42-yard game-winner in a 29-27 final.

A week later, Michigan State lost by a field goal at Notre Dame. Last week at Wisconsin, MSU played as if reeling from those two early sucker-punch losses and got worked, 38-30, in a result made to look respectable by two oh-by-the-way touchdowns in the last two minutes.

So now Michigan State is in the all-too-familiar position of needing a win over Michigan to salvage its season.

Some important betting trends to consider with this game include:

The Wolverines are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog of 3.5-10.0.

The Wolverines are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as a road underdog.

The Wolverines are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss.

The Wolverines are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 conference games.

The Spartans are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss.

The Spartans are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0.
