Bet Sports at Gas Stations, Convenience Stores in Illinois Shortly
The ability to be able to bet sports at gas stations in Illinois is the price to pay at the pump. The state announced limited sports wagering will now be available at gas stations, but as part of this new law, Illinois will also have among the highest gas prices in the nation.

A new sports betting system could soon "launch at thousands of lottery retailers" in Illinois, according to Mitchell Armentrout of the Chicago Sun Times.
Gamblers ages 21 and up will soon "be able to get in on the action at up to 5,000 gas stations, convenience stores and other retailers. Bets will be limited to parlays, meaning one will need to pick multiple teams to all win with a single bet.
The so-called lottery sports wagering pilot program is easily lost in the shuffle of the state’s vast gambling expansion signed into law earlier this summer by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Armetrout adds.
The new law allows for sports betting kiosks to be set up at arenas and ballparks, mobile wagering throughout the state and a new casino somewhere in Downtown Chicago.
A timeline for when the lottery sports betting pilot program rolls out has yet to be determined.
