From The Independent:

There have also been dire warnings from locals, who have suggested that visitors might not be able to cope in a town in a harsh environment with no grocery store and little cellular coverage.

Here was the most recent update:

About 40 people gathered overnight with plans to storm Area 51, according to Nevada authorities.

The group moved towards the compound's gates before leaving after "heated warnings" from officers, according to the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

The department said the group gathered in the Amargosa Valley about 3am and had left by 5am.

They were described as being compliant and peaceful.

The gathering occurred about 95 miles from the events taking place near the tiny Nevada towns of Rachel and Hiko.

At least two people were detained earlier in the day by sheriff's deputies at a different Area 51 gate.

It is not immediately clear when the cutoff takes place for payment of wagers.
