Week four of the NFL regular season will begin with an NFC Showdown taking place at historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The Packers are set to host the Philadelphia Eagles in what could be a playoff preview in the NFC. Philadelphia was a playoff team during the 2018 season, but things have not gone well for them so far in 2019. Green Bay missed the playoffs a season ago, but look like a strong playoff contender this season.

Green Bay opened up the 2019 regular season with an impressive 10-3 win over the Chicago Bears in week one, and they have not slowed down since. The Packers have beaten the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos in the last two weeks, and will be playing in their third straight home game on Thursday night. Philadelphia opened up the season with a comeback win over the Washington Redskins, but things have gone south in a hurry. The Eagles have lost back to back games to the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions and will come into this game searching for answers.
Packers Defense Getting Job Done
Defense has been an issue in Green Bay over the last few seasons, but that has not been the case so far this season. The Packers were able to keep the Chicago Bears out of the end zone in the season opener, and have been forcing plenty of turnovers in the last few weeks. Green Bay has given up just 35 total points through their first three games, and they are giving the explosive Packers offense terrific field position. The Packers are blitzing early and often this season, and will put plenty of pressure on Carson Wentz in this game.
The Packers still have Aaron Rodgers under center, but it has been a work in progress with new head coach Matt LaFleur. Rodgers is still completing a high percentage of his passes this season, but the Green Bay offense just can’t seem to get things going. Wide receiver Davante Adams has emerged as a top wide receiver for the Packers, and running back Aaron Jones is off to a terrific start. The Packers offense will get going at some point, and that is a problem for the rest of the NFC.
Eagles Are Battling Thru Injuries
The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a ton of injuries at the skill positions already this season, and it has really hurt the offense. Philadelphia still managed to put up 24 points in the week three loss to Detroit, but quarterback Carson Wentz is running out of players to throw the ball to. Philadelphia made plenty of mistakes and had a handful of turnovers against the Lions and that formula will not work against the aggressive Packers team.
Philadelphia has been less than great on defense this season, and that could spell big trouble on Thursday night. The Eagles have given up at least 20 points in every game this season, and they have been getting gashed by the passing game. Philadelphia has a ton of new players in the secondary, and Aaron Rodgers will be looking to take advantage of that in this game.
Packers Move to 4-0 on the Season
This is a matchup of potential playoff teams in the NFC this season, but only one team is playing like a playoff team at this time. The Packers have not played up to their potential this season, but are still 3-0. Philadelphia has struggled in more than one area this season, and just haven’t been able to put it together. Winning at Lambeau Field is always an extremely difficult task, and the banged up Eagles just don’t have enough talent to win this game.
