11:59 am - Could a casino be coming to a state that currently has none and in a city as big as Atlanta.

Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark announced a proposal to build a $1-billion casino resort adjacent to the longtime racetrack in Hampton, GA.

The proposed project would include a hotel, time-share condominiums, meeting space, shops and restaurants, as well as a theme park, concert venue, movie theater and night club. Gambling is not currently legalized in Georgia.

“We want to create something that would bring people of all ages for multi-night stays,” Clark told a legislative committee in August focused on ways to grow Georgia’s economy. “It’s not all about gaming. It’s about entertainment.”

Georgia is one of the least gambling-friendly states in the US.

11:43 am - Women being sought for drugging, robbing man in South Florida casino.

Authorities are offering a $3,000 reward to help track down two women who they said were caught on camera as they drugged a man at a casino before stealing his $15,000 Rolex from his hotel room.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the women drugged their victim at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Hollywood, Florida, in the early hours of September 13.

The story is now making nationally headlines.
