Lawmakers passed legislation allowing sports betting in the state of Illinois over the summer.  It is not immediately clear when land-based kiosks and retail sportsbook will be available, though probably not until after the Super Bowl.

FoxBet is a brand that merges Fox Sports and PokerStars.  It will receive wide exposure through promotions via Fox Sports broadcasts.  The new venture is only available in Pennsylvania and New Jersey at this time.

A free-to-play game with cash prizes for predicting game outcomes of sports games will be offered to those living in Illinois.

The Stars Group is partnered with Penn National Gaming, which allows FoxBet to operate in states where Penn National owns a casino property, including neighboring Indiana.

FoxBet does have second skin access in Illinois, meaning that FoxBet does have a shot of operating here once online and mobile sports betting finally launches.
