One of the biggest drawbacks to New Jersey's explosive sports betting market is the inability to place bets on the state's college teams.

While some offshore sportsbooks do still accept New Jersey customers and do take bets on games featuring NJ-state colleges, most do not, including all Gambling911.com ad partners (at least we are obligated not to promote them if they are).

It's true New Jersey is no Alabama or Mississippi when it comes to college sports, but this weekend's Rutgers-Ohio State game will be in high demand.

The mere fact that number 3-ranked Ohio State is playing in this one will draw substantial interest from New Jersey sports bettors.  The state heavily promotes its own licensed brands.  This has helped boost interest in sports betting overall, bringing the activity to the mainstream.

With a historic spread of -51 on this game (Buckeyes favored), NJ gamblers will also be more enticed to place wagers on the home state team regardless of how bad they might be.

This won't be the only game where New Jersey residents will be left out in the cold over the next few months.

Nearly all college basketball games featuring Seton Hall will be in high demand.  NJ residents will have to find another way to bet on them.

Local bookies are certain to benefit, especially those using an established Pay Per Head solution.
