It is technically legal for Bovada to operate in Ohio though they do not have a state license to do so. While Bovada is good, there are better options like Prime Sportsbook, now live in Ohio with the highest limits.

The state of Ohio is now offering in-state licensed sportsbooks as lawmakers passed a measure that was ultimately signed off by Governor Mike DeWine.

For the past few years, the main issue had centered on what body would ultimately oversee wagering in the Buckeye State: The Ohio Casino Commission or the Ohio Lottery Commission.

Allowing bets on college sports was not a given, but has come to fruition.  There is just no way you can legalize sports gambling in Ohio and not permit betting on the beloved Buckeyes.

Ohio’s public universities and more than 50 of the state’s private colleges have said they oppose letting people bet on college sports; so does the NCAA.

Since launching on January 1, 2022 Governor Mike DeWine has expressed concerns over the amount of advertising and the apparent mailing out of ads to those under 21.

Sports betting is especially popular in the state with the Ohio State Buckeyes in college football, two NFL franchises - The Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, two MLB clubs - The Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds - and a few other good college teams.
