Stephen F. Austin Stuns Duke as +27.5 Dog

The line on the Stephen F. Austin vs. Duke game was Blue Devils -27.5, but that didn't stop the Lumberjacks from winning 85-83. They now own a 5-1 record and came into this game off a 12-point loss to Rutgers.  Duke was handed their first loss of the season Tuesday night.

The Lumberjack’s win surpassed that of Gardner-Webb's 26-point upset win over Kentucky in 2007, making it the largest upset in a Division I men's basketball game over the past 15 seasons, which is as far back as ESPN's point-spread gambling data goes.

5Dimes was offering Stephen F. Austin at -25000 odds on the moneyline for a payout of $25000 with every $100 bet.

Stephen F. Austin overcame a 15-point deficit to take the lead in the second half and forced overtime on a Kensmil layup with 19 seconds remaining.  Overtime included just three made baskets.  The Lumberjacks were led by Kevon Harris' 26 points.  Gavin Kensmil had 15.

The loss snapped the Blue Devils' 150-game nonconference home winning streak, the longest active streak in Division I. It was their first nonconference loss at home since they fell to St. John's on Feb. 26, 2000.

"It's a very difficult loss. It's also a loss that if we would have won, we would not have been deserving of winning," Duke coach Mike Kzryzewski said. "That's the way I look at it, so it's on me, but you have to give credit to them. They were really good, he's a good coach and a good program, and they outplayed us."
