There is a reason why the Kansas Jayhawks were a -15 point favorite Monday night against a .500 Oklahoma State Cowboys team They ended up winning 83-58 and now rank number one in the nation.
When these two teams met last month, the Jayhawks emerged victorious with a dominant 15-point road win then as well.
They now have five straight wins against the Cowboys. Kansas has also beaten the Cowboys in 22 of the last 24 games played in Allen Fieldhouse.
Jayhawks Look to Continue Flying High
Kansas very well might be the hottest team in the country even before Monday night’s action. With Gonzaga, San Diego State and Baylor all losing over the weekend, the Jayhawks have quietly reeled off 12 consecutive victories and has the look of a national title contender. Led by the nation’s 7th-best scoring defense (60.7 ppg allowed), Kansas had put together double-digit wins in four of its last six contests prior to blowing away the Cowboys. The Jayhawks have also held 14 different opponents under the 60-point threshold on the year, a statistic that could horrify this offensively-challenged Oklahoma State squad.
In Monday’s game, Udoka Azubuike had 19 points and 16 rebounds, Devon Dotson added 11 points and Christian Braun and David McCormack had 10 apiece for the Jayhawks (25-3, 14-1).
Heading into Monday, Dotson’s 18.2 points per game led the Jayhawks while Azubuike was coming off the best game of his season, a 23-point, 19-rebound performance in the upset win at Baylor.
The Jayhawks still have value when it comes to winning the NCAA Men's College Basketball Championship. They would pay out $600 for every $100 bet.
