Colorado Eyes May 1 to Kick Off Sports Betting.....Without Sports
The state of Colorado is set to allow sports betting beginning May 1 despite the lack of sports currently available due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many websites licensed outside the state are currently accessible but Colorado recently passed a law granding licensing to in-state operators.
Last November, Colorado voters narrowly approved a referendum that opened the doors to legalized sports wagering in the state.
The latest property to receive a sports betting license in the state is The Lodge Casino in Black Hawk, which has a partnership with SuperBook. The Wildwood Casino became the last of the Cripple Creek gambling halls to receive a sports wagering license from the commission. The licenses were approved during a teleconference meeting. The regulators made minimal revisions to the list of wagers. Interestingly, there are barely any sporting events ongoing.
Regulations were changed slightly to prevent in-play wagering on college games.
