Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina odds were listed at Virginia Tech -13 for this Thursday, 7:45 pm Eastern - ESPN event.  Odds were available at SBG Global

Somehow Virginia Tech is still in the college football betting Top 25 even after suffering two straight losses. They will try and avoid a third straight as they play East Carolina on Thursday in a game set to be televised on ESPN.  The Hokies could be looking for motivation considering their national title hopes and BCS bowl hopes are gone. "I think the motivation is to come out here so you don't feel like this again," said Hokies linebacker Cody Grimm, "Ten wins is one thing, but I don't want to feel like this any more and the only way to do that is to win."

Virginia Tech is a 13-point favorite with a total of 51 at SBG Global.

One thing that might motivate Virginia Tech on Thursday is revenge. The Hokies lost last year 27-22 to East Carolina as the Pirates returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the last two minutes to upset the Hokies. The Hokies lead the all-time series 9-5.

East Carolina has won six straight at home and could give Virginia Tech some trouble. "You get into some of these big-game atmospheres and it's good to see our players understand the type of effort it's going to take," said East Carolina coach Skip Holtz, "There is an awful lot of buildup and excitement for this game, venue and atmosphere. I think Greenville will come alive a little bit Thursday. We're really excited to not only play Virginia Tech, but to play the team at home."

Virginia Tech needs to firm up their defense which is allowing 154.1 yards per game.  Last season the Pirates rushed for 158 yards against Virginia Tech and may have similar success on Thursday. The Pirates are averaging 149.4 rushing yards per game this season.

Here are the Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina odds trends. The Hokies are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 Thursday games. The Hokies are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games as a road favorite. The Hokies are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games.

The Pirates are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games as a home underdog. The Pirates are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall. The Pirates are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. the ACC.

The Under is 12-5 in the Hokies last 17 games on grass. The Over is 5-0-1 in the Pirates last 6 vs. the ACC. The Over is 7-3 in the Pirates last 10 games as an underdog.
