Odds to win the 2008 NFC East are among the tightest in the league, exemplified by the fact that the 2008 Super Bowl champion New York Giants are a +400 long shot and third most likely to win this division.

The Dallas Cowboys are a favorite - not just to win the division - but to win the 2009 Super Bowl, now neck and neck with the New England Patriots. Because this is such a tight division, gamblers are treated to some terrific value if betting the Cowboys to win the 2008 NFC East.

Odds to win the 2008 NFC East were as follows and courtesy of Sportsbook.com

Dallas Cowboys -160 (a $160 bet would pay out $100 and original bet is returned)

New York Giants +400 (a $100 bet pays $400)

Philadelphia Eagles +300 (a $100 bet pays out $300)

Washington Redskins +700 (a $100 bet pays $700)

The Cowboys odds of winning the 2008 NFC East is highlighted by the idea that they were listed as -145 favorites to win more than 10 ½ regular season games.

The New York Giants odds to win the 2008 NFC East and 2009 Super Bowl have great value. In fact, those odds have gotten better since the start of the season when the Giants were listed with 3/1 odds compared to 4/1 odds available at press time.

Now unless the Giants really fall apart early on, sports bettors should have the upper hand supporting this team thanks to the perception that is out there. Of course, if the Giants continue to excel, the public and odds makers should catch on quick. It was that late postseason surge against solid teams that really caught everyone by surprise last year.

After Washington, the Giants will be playing teams prior to their bye week that are well into double digit odds of winning a Super Bowl championship - The Bengals (60/1), St. Louis (75/1) and a somewhat descent Seahawks team at home (25/1 odds).

It's the Philadelphia Eagles who are believed to be the most improved team in this division. The Eagles odds to win the 2008 NFC East have remained around +300 or 3/1 and appear to be getting shorter.

The Washington Redskins odds to win the 2008 NFC East offer the best payout: $700 for every $100 bet. Despite the talented teams surrounding the Skins this year, Washington is still expected to perform at or above .500. The Washington Redskins were a -140 favorite to win OVER 7 ½ 2008 regular season games.
