Just how valuable is Tom Brady, even at his advanced age? Well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be the best team in the NFL right now after convincing wins over Green Bay and Las Vegas while the New England Patriots are trying to stay ahead of the Jets in the AFC East. The Bucs put up 83 points in those two victories with Brady tossing six touchdown passes without an interception. Looking to keep the heater going, Brady leads the Bucs into the Meadowlands for a Week 8 Monday Night Football tussle with the New York Giants.  Bookmaker.eu offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $1600).

Odds Analysis

Tampa Bay is getting a lot of action forcing the line to spike from its opening of Bucs -9.5 to the current line of -13. And can you blame bettors? Tampa routed previously unbeaten Green Bay 38-10 in Week 6 as a 3-point dog. They turned around and hammered Vegas 45-20 laying 3.5-points. Overall they are 4-3 ATS. The Giants are coming off a three-game trek against fellow NFC East compatriots where they went 1-2 SU and 2-1 ATS with those games decided by a total of five points. It shows that the division is tight, but it’s also bad. The teams combined for a 7-20-1 record through seven weeks with New York bringing up the rear. The Giants’ lone win came on home turf, but they are 0-3 ATS. The under is getting a lot of play forcing the total to drop to its current 45.

It took a while but it looks like Brady is feeling comfortable in his new surroundings. The start of the season was a struggle with Brady throwing for 456 yards and three picks. He’s been magical since with 15 touchdown passes and only one interception over the last five games. Not surprisingly the Bucs are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS averaging 33.6 points during that span, which includes a 19-point effort in a loss to the Bears.

The passing game was delivered a blow with Chris Godwin shelved due to a finger injury. The team’s leading receiver with 25 catches has played only four games and had his best day against the Raiders with nine catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. Scottie Miller has emerged as a threat after hauling in six passes for 109 yards last week. The real story has been Brady reuniting with Rob Gronkowski. After 12 receptions without a touchdown in the first five games, Gronk has a touchdown catch in each of the last two with 10 total catches.

The Bucs might be the most complete team in the NFL with the third-highest scoring offense at 31.7 points per game. They’ve been stingy on defense, an area that gets overlooked thanks to the presence of Brady. The Bucs are first against the run, third in total defense and yield an average of 20.3 points per game. They’ve held five of their last six opponents to 20 points or less.

New York Giants

Not many people are giving the Giants a chance in this matchup, which can only fuel their fire to jump back into the NFC East race. While they have only one win on the season, the G-Men are just one victory behind the other teams in the division entering Week 8. But when it rains it pours, at least for the bad teams. COVID interfered with preparation this week when Will Hernandez tested positive. As a result all who came in contact were sent home, including the entire offensive line. Not how you want to prepare for the hottest team in the league.

The loss of Saquon Barkley earlier this season has impacted the offense, and particularly Daniel Jones, who has regressed from a solid rookie campaign. He’s thrown for more than 200 yards just once in the past five games and is averaging 204.1 yards for the season with more picks (7) than touchdowns (5). He’s also lost four fumbles as the Giants have 13 giveaways, the third-highest total in the NFL.

The Giants haven’t been bad defensively, but they blew a great chance to improve their status last week. They held a 21-10 lead over the Eagles with a half a quarter to play only to squander the advantage by surrendering two touchdowns in the final four and a half minutes. Then with a chance to drive for the potential game-winning field goal, Jones was sacked and fumbled. The Giants played below the total in their last two games and the UNDER is 5-2.

It’s hard to bet against a 13-point spread which is why part of me is saying back the Giants. However, the Bucs and Brady are rolling right now and I don’t see NY doing enough to stop the onslaught. And the Giants don’t have the offense to keep up. The smarter play would be on the total with two good defenses keeping the score UNDER the current line.

NFL Score Prediction: Buccaneers 30, Giants 13
