A GoFundMe page was set up that featured a picture of Elkabbass lying in a hospital bed, which the prosecution alleges was taken when she had her gallbladder removed.

Prosecutors claim she then used the money raised from the page to gamble and purchase nearly £4,000 on tickets to Tottenham Hotspur.

From the Metro:

Elkabbass, a former Harrods fashion consultant, has denied two counts of fraud relating to the money she received between February and August, 2018. She told the court she ‘truly believed’ she was in the late stages of the disease, and said her trips abroad had been for medical treatment. The jury heard that from 2017 to 2018, she had gambled about £68,000, through online bingo, William Hill bookmakers and the Grosvenor Casino in Broadstairs, Kent.
