Is It Legal to Bet the Super Bowl Online From the State of Ohio?

While the US Supreme Court legalized sports betting in nationwide in 2018, it is up to the individual states to amend their own laws to allow for licensing and regulation.  Ohio has yet to do so as we head into the 2021 Super Bowl.  As such, residents of the Buckeye State will continue to rely upon websites licensed in other jurisdictions but that are still accessible from Ohio.  BetUS is one such site.  In business since 1994, BetUS offers hundreds of Super Bowl props, live in-play betting throughout the big game and a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $3125).

Lawmakers hope a new sports betting bill in the state will help to structure a regulatory platform.   This would include a determination of the tax rate to be imposed.

Senate Bill 111, which would have legalized sports betting, failed to get enough support to pass last year.

State representative Michele Lapore-Hagan hopes that introducing a new bill at some point this year will allow Ohio to keep needed revenue in the state.

“I think we’re real close to getting it done,” Hagan said. “We must get it done quickly because we’re missing out. We’re missing out on revenue. All the states around us are taking our money, and it’s just pouring out of Ohio.”

Representative Hagan is hopeful that both houses will agree on a sports betting bill by the end of the summer.

With that overly highly optimistic outlook, the legal framework would probably not be in place to allow for in-state sportsbooks to start taking bets at the kickoff of the 2021 regular NFL season.

Governor DeWine has supported the idea of legalized sports betting in Ohio.

Until that time, sites like BetUS will welcome those Ohio residents 18 and up with open arms.

DR Congo has 1 point and likely needs a win to have a realistic shot at advancing as a third-place team. Uzbekistan has 0 points and must win to stay alive. A draw probably eliminates Uzbekistan and likely does very little for DR Congo.
