An interesting result of Friday's FIFA World Cup draw is the emergence of the so-called "Group of Death".

Let's break down the World Cup "Group of Death" odds and then we will explain:

*Please note that US citizens are welcome to open up an online betting account at Sportsbetting.com here and can wager on the 2010 World Cup.

Brazil is the favorite in this group to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup with 6.00 odds (5/1)

The Ivory Coast, one time home of Gambling911.com's own Jenny Woo, will be a contender - make no mistake about it.  They came in with a price of 25.00 (24/1). Ivory Coast offers us the world's top striker, Didier Drogba, and is considered to be the first African contender.

Portugal features Cristiano Ronaldo and finished 4th in the 2006 World Cup.  They were listed with 30.00 or 29/1 odds of winning the FIFA World Cup.

North Korea is not expected to be much competition in this group, but then again - anything can happen.  They were listed at 300.00.

A "Group of Death" in a multi-stage tournament is a preliminary group which is unusually competitive, because the number of strong competitors in the group is greater than the number of qualifying places available for the next phase of the tournament. Thus, in the preliminary round, one or more strong competitors in the "group of death" will necessarily be eliminated, who would otherwise have been expected to progress further in the tournament.

For the 2010 World Cup, the "Group of Death" is represented by Group G.
