Can I Bet on the Fanduel App From Illinois

FanDuel Sportsbook is now live for real money betting action in Illinois. Those looking to bet on state schools like the mighty Fighting Illini will have to seek other options however.

Sports Betting Success in Illinois

  • FanDuel was initially shut out of the Illinois market but has since charged ahead to become one of the most successful in-state options available.
  • Illinois sports betting reached another record in January 2021 with $581.6 million in wagers.
  • These numbers are up from December’s $491.7 million in bets and $23.9 million in revenue.
  • February could prove even more rewarding with the Super Bowl having taken place the first Sunday of that month.
  • Illinois became the fourth state to surpass $500 million in bets in a single month and sits in the number 4 spot in overall handle behind Pennsylvania, Nevada and New Jersey.
  • DraftKings led the way with $244.2 million in handle, or 42%.
  • FanDuel, however, generated more revenue than DraftKings, $16.9 million to $16.4 million.
  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker had temporarily lifted the requirement to register on-site and that was continuing through at least April 3, which is the weekend of the NCAA Tournament Final Four.
  • In-state licensed sportsbooks prohibit those under the age of 21 from betting, offshore books accessible from the state allow those 18 and up.
