Hot Start for the 2021 MLB Season
It has been just a few days in the new MLB season but we're already starting to see some trends that it's important to look out for. The 2021 MLB season will be a special one considering that last one was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and was cut short to only 60 games for the regular season, with no audience at all, except for the last few games of the playoffs and the World Series.
Things have been changing little by little in the United States and there is lots of expectation for the new MLB season, already back to its original format and with teams allowing a certain percentage of fans back in the stadiums which brings back hope to all sports fans out there, as well as for bookies and sportsbook operations which had been waiting for this moment patiently.
The 2021 MLB season started last Thursday, April 1st, so it has been just a few games so far, but some of the favorites are already marking their territory and confirming why different sportsbooks from all over the world have them as favorites to reach and win the World Series.
Which teams have had a hot start in this MLB season?
Defending champions LA Dodgers have done quite a good job to kick off the season; it's true, they lost their first game but picked right up and won the next three in a row and now they lead the NL West, along with the San Diego Padres, who have also had a great start.
Remember, according to sportsbooks, both Dodgers and Padres are favorites to make it to the World Series this year out of the National League. On the other side, in the American League, teams like the Yankees or the White Sox are the ones expected to lead the way into the playoffs, however none of them has had a great start, at least so far, and others like the Houston Astros or the Baltimore Orioles are the ones that had been shining through the beginning of the season.
There is quite a long way to go, that's clear, but it's always interesting to see the initial trends in every sports season and see how the different teams behave and how they manage to keep their hot streaks going or, on the other hand, to see how they slowly fall on different occasions.
Quick MLB 2021 season calendar
It's important to remember that for the 2021 MLB season things are going back to normal regarding calendars. The MLB All-Star game will take place on July 13th in a city that's still to be defined as the league decided to move it from Atlanta. The regular season will go all the way to September 30th and the playoffs will start right after that, with October 30th as the latest possible date for a World Series Game 7.
On another important topic for MLB fans, the Field of Dreams game will take place on August 12th this year, after it was postponed last season. It's just an exhibition game after all, but one that many fans have been patiently waiting for.
