Long established online casino software provider, Cryptologic, is on the verge of entering the sports betting realm.

The company looks to sign a deal with multi-national Internet sports betting operator Betclic and is preparing to launch a series of new games in partnership with multinationals DC Comics and Paramount Digital Entertainment.

Betclic is part of French giant Mangas and is primarily focused on sports betting; it has a particular focus on European football.  They are licensed in the online gambling centre of Malta.

The group has businesses in 15 countries and, according to the most recent figures, has about 1.5 million customers.

Ireland-based Cryptologic also has partnerships with DC Comics and Paramount Digital Entertainment - parent of Paramount Pictures - and develops games using both multinational groups' characters.  Betclic in return would offer the Cryptologic casino product on its platform.

Cryptologic, which trades on both the Toronto and London exchanges, endured a well publicized internal shareholder power struggle this past year and lost a number of its most prized licensees, including the UK's number two sports betting operation, William Hill.
