Mets Betting Analysis
Unless Jacob deGrom happens to be starting for the Mets, this New York team is vulnerable. And backing deGrom each time he starts is not as easy as it may seem. At home he's been priced well above the -200 mark. But on the road, deGrom does enjoy some value in most series. For example, a game in San Diego had the Mets winning with deGrom as a starter priced at -118 back on June 5. Even on the road versus teams with losing records, like the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Mets were priced under -170 with deGrom as a starter.
Recent MLB Betting Trends: The Mets are currently playing under .500 ball with a 4-6 record their last ten games. The UNDER is 8-2 in the last ten games for New York. The UNDER is 34-28-2 on the season so far.
Upcoming Series Trends
vs. Phillies (June 25-27)
- The OVER in this series is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings
@ Nationals (June 28)
- Washington is 6-1 in the last 7 home games
- The OVER has only occurred once in the last seven meetings
vs. Brewers (July 5-7)
- Milwaukee is 16-6 versus New York in the last 22 meetings
vs. Pirates (July 8-11)
- Mets are 6-1 in this series dating back to 2018
Starting Pitchers
Jacob deGrom (7-2, 0.50 ERA) - See above. What else can we say. He's been remarkable this season and the best pitcher in the MLB by most accounts. As we already noted, take the Mets on the road whenever possible with deGrom starting as you should be able to get him priced under -190 in most away series.
Taijuan Walker (6-3, 2.42 ERA) - Walker was charged with four runs over 6 1/3 innings on Sunday June 20 in a loss to the Nationals. He allowed 10 hits. He only permitted two runs in his previous start and one against Baltimore the prior game. Gambling911.com anticipates Walker to be solid against Atlanta in the first of a double header on Friday. In 41 at bats against Walker, the Braves have had just 7 hits and a single home run. Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies in this game. Nola did not factor into the decision in his last start and was dominant previous to that game. Yan Gomes has enjoyed much success against Nola with two home runs and 4 RBIs, he is 6 for 16 hitting off him.
Friday Analysis
Despite the OVER in this series going 10-4 in the last 14 meetings, the UNDER is 8-2 in the Mets last ten games ahead of this first matchup in the day's doubleheader. Taijuan Walker coming off a bad start and needing to make amends also provides some argument for the UNDER, that's assuming he starts.
