About This NBA Finals Between the Bucks and Suns

This version of the Phoenix Suns will be a case study for future NBA general managers on how to build a championship contending roster in a hurry, suggests David Brandt of the Associated Press.

It's the perfect combination of aging, but effective, veterans playing along side a talented young nucleus. Chris Paul, Jae Crowder and Torrey Craig are the seasoned players.  Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton shine as the relative new blood.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Booker said after beating the Clippers to advance to the NBA Finals last week. “We’ve seen the bottom, the bottom of the bottom for multiple years, and just keeping our head down. Waiting on this moment right here. Monty coming in, building the culture, him leading us with the preparation meets opportunity.

Booker scored 24 points to lead Phoenix to their first NBA Finals since 1993.  They have yet to win a Championship.

Phoenix certainly has the edge here having gone 2-0 versus Milwaukee this season Straight Up. But Against The Spread, the Suns have been solid as well.  They have covered in seven of the last nine head-to-head matchups.  One needs to be very careful with these numbers, however.  A closer look reveals that Phoenix only beat Milwaukee by a single point in both of the 2020-21 regular season games.

The Suns are 27-9 on their home court.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
