Muslim Gadzhimagomedov is the -275 favorite to win this event.

Gadzhimagomedov is a Russian amateur boxer. He won a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships followed by gold medals at the World Championships and European Games in 2019.

Gadzhimagomedov took a few seconds to gauge his veteran Algerian opponent Abdelhafid Benchabla but then produced a dominant performance in a bout on Tuesday.

Gadzhimagomedov's heavy combination punches left Benchabla in trouble and a right hook forced the 34-year-old to drop on his knee and face the standing eight count from the referee.

Gadzhimagomedov's biggest challenge was likely to come from Julio Cesar La Cruz

La Cruz won gold at the Rio 2016 Games and four amateur world titles at light-heavyweight but his swagger was still the same in the higher weight category as he downed Kenya's Elly Ajowi Ochola 5-0.

La Cruz odds to win gold sat at 3-1.

David Nyika has much slimmer chances of winning the gold but with a sweet payout of $1000 on a $100 bet if he does.

The New Zealander won a gold medal as an amateur at both the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games as well as competing at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships.  He is guaranteed at least a bronze medal after seeing off Belarusian boxer Uladzislau Smiahlikau.

Nyika made headlines this past week when Youness Baalla of Morocco attempted to bite off his ear (think Mike Tyson).

Afterwards, Nyika was asked about the incident and responded he had been bitten before, "but c'mon man this is the Olympics."
