Lisa Carrington enters as the -250 favorite.

The New Zealand flatwater canoeist has won gold in the Women's K-1 200 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, as well as gold in the same event at the 2011 Canoe Sprint World Championships.

Carrington has the daunting task of contesting four different events at one Olympics.

"We didn't dream this up overnight, it's something we've been preparing for over the last four years.

"I've had a lot of time to figure out if I can do it and each World Champs and each year goes by and it's like, 'ok, this thing is becoming more real'.

"I guess the idea is I don't want to limit myself."

Danuta Kozak pays $450 for every $100 bet should she somehow manage to take home the gold.  She's certainly qualified to do so.

The Hungarian sprint canoer of Polish descent has won one silver and five Olympic gold medals, three of which in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, making her the only female to win K1, K2 and K4 at the same Olympics.

In 2017 she took a break from sport to give birth to her daughter Zora. She returned to competition in June 2018 at the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

"As a mother, there are difficult times, but you get used to it," said Kozak, pictured second from left below.  "I get a lot of help from my husband and the two grandmothers. We also try to find the right balance between sport and parenting. As long as I enjoy it, as long as I am successful, and as long as we can work together as a family, there is a future for this. Of course, it's a bit difficult because besides training, you have to be a mum and do a bit of harder work. But that's what motherhood means."

Kozak opened with the second shortest odds and is now the long shot of four competitors to bet on.

Emma Jorgensen will now pay out $400 for every $100 bet.

Representing Denmark, Jorgensen competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning the silver medal in K-1 500 metres. She was defeated by the defending champion Kozak.

Jorgensen also won a bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships in the same category.[

Marta Walczykiewicz pays $400 on a $100 bet as well.

A Polish sprint canoer Walczykiewwicz has competed since the late 2000s. She won eleven medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with one gold, eight silvers and a bronze.

Via her Facebook page, Walczykiewicz wrote Sunday:

"How fast are these years  Thank you very much for your wishes and gifts  And tomorrow at 2:37 Polish time, together with my pink arrow we go into battle Keep your fingers crossed for the entire Team."
