Feds Approve Sports Betting in Florida....But Not So Fast....

Easier said than done as lawsuits will most certainly stall the process.

Florida lawmakers said that sports betting would not take shape until October the earliest.  The legal challenges appear more geared towards the mobile aspect of any sports betting efforts as remote gambling of any kind would be considered a form of expansion.  A previous referendum requires Florida voters to decide on any such expansion.

Governor Ron DeSantis celebrated the decision.

“The final approval of this historic gaming compact is a big deal for the state of Florida,” DeSantis said in a prepared statement. “This mutually beneficial agreement will grow our economy, expand tourism and recreation and provide billions in new revenue to benefit Floridians.”
