UAB is a +24.5 underdog against the Georgia Bulldogs, so you can only imagine the payout should the Blazers actually win this game outright. That payout is $1170 on a $100 bet!!!
So does UAB even stand a chance?
Remarkably, YES. That's mainly because Georgia may be suffering a health crisis this weekend with a number of players likely out due to Covid-19 protocol.
Head coach Kirby Smart has yet to say which players are infected.
“I think there’s this relief where (people) feel like everything’s back to normal, but it’s really just not for us,” head coach Kirby Smart said at the Georgia football’s first in-person, pregame press conference of the year. “Because we have the most (COVID cases) we’ve had right now.”
So far there are likely at least three players that are sidelined with Covid. Even if they are cleared to play, they won't be at 100 percent, a result of limited practice.
UAB is also the best team in Conference USA, deep and full of veterans. That makes it especially hard to digest this +24.5 line, especially when one considers the Bulldog's are already thin at the receiver position.
UAB didn't just shut out Jacksonville State 31-0, they gave up a mere 154 yards of total Gamecock offense.
The Blazers defense we believe should make it tough for UGA to hit that 24.5 cover. Do we think UAB will win outright? Probably not. But a UAB cover of +24.5 will be one of our plays this week.
