What Should the Spread on the Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Game be?

The Fighting Irish had around 60% of the public backing as underdogs.  Books moved the line from Wisconsin -5.5 to -6.5, which certainly would have encouraged more action on the Irish.  Books did not start moving back down to -6 until Sunday morning.  Gambling911.com had a very early line of -9 prior to the Week 4 release.  This was adjusted to Badgers -3 with the actual line opening at -5.5.  In the end there was a definitely overlay with this line of 2.5 to 3.5 points.

Coming Into Week 4

Kyren Williams scored two long touchdowns, the second a 51-yard run with 6:05 remaining, as No. 12 Notre Dame held off Purdue 27-13 Saturday.

The Fighting Irish won their eighth straight over Purdue and first since 2014.  The win also allowed Brian Kelly to tie Knute Rockne for the most victories in the history of the program.

“It takes a lot of things to be in place for that to happen,” said Kelly, whose first victory at Notre Dame was a 23-12 victory over Purdue at Notre Dame during the 2010 season. “Father John (Jenkins, the university president) and (athletic director) Jack (Swarbrick) have been on this journey. Consistency, leadership and alignment — all those things have to come together to get to this point.”

Notre Dame was expected to be ranked around the No. 12 in the Associated Press poll once again.  It had fallen four notces following that 32-29 victory over Toledo.

The Irish are now 3-0 but just 1-2 Against The Spread and will play at Chicago’s Soldier Field next Saturday against the Badgers.  Madison is just over 2 hours away from Chicago while South Bend is closer to an hour and fourty five minutes.  Expect a good mix of fans from both schools.

Wisconsin did not play in Week 3. They come into their game versus the Fighting Irish with a 1-1 record following a Week 2 loss to Penn State, 16-10.  But don't be fooled.  The Badgers' defense once again looks outstanding. Jalen Berger, the Badgers' leading rusher last year, didn't play at all.
