$1.2 Billion Bet in December With New Jersey Sportsbooks: Revenues Way Down Though

A whopping $1.2 billion was wagered on sports in New Jersey during the month of December.  The books won $59.0 million in the month.

This represented the state's fourth consecutive billion dollar monthly handle.

Revenues, however, dropped significantly in December. Sportsbooks generated $59 million, representing a 4.8% hold compared to November’s record-setting $114.8 million, representing a 9.1% hold.

NJ shattered its own record in 2021 with over $10 billion bet on sports during the year, way up from the $6 billion wagered on sports in 2020.  Of course, it should be noted that sporting events overall in 2020 were limited globally due to the pandemic.

New Jersey became the first state to surpass $1 billion bets in a month in September.
