Reports suggest Stephen Breyer will retire from SCOTUS soon, paving the way for a new liberal justice.  An official announcement by Breyer was anticipated as early as Thursday (January 27).

SportsBetting.ag was likely to release odds ahead of the weekend.

The Supreme Court is leaning conservative at the moment and Liberals had been pushing for the 83-year-old Breyer to retire in order that Democratic President Joe Biden and the Democrat-led Senate could confirm a liberal replacement.

Early favorites to replace Breyer include Federal Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who is a former Breyer law clerk, and Leondra Kruger, a justice on California’s Supreme Court.  Biden had vowed during his Presidential campaign to select an African American woman to the court if provided the opportunity,

Breyer is expected to remain on the bench until a replacement is found.
