It may be too soon to call but the good news for Las Vegas is that Sin City had experienced a 2.9 percent increase in visitors during the month of November.

Tourism officials say Las Vegas saw more than 2.9 million visitors during that month.

More good news, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said Tuesday that November marked the third consecutive year-over-year increase in monthly visitation.

Some bad news, however, convention attendance in November was down 13 percent, to nearly 438,000, from the year before, despite there being 63 more conventions and meetings.

Visitors can still take advantage of a surplus in hotel room inventory at deeply discounted rates, however, prices are noticeably way up in the approaching week at the more prestigious Strip properties.

The new City Center Vdara Hotel had rates averaging around $184 per night while the Wynn Hotel was a pricey $259 per night compared to accommodations closer to the $150 range just two months ago.  Caesar's Palace was just over $200 per night.

Deals can be had nonetheless.  The Mirage was coming in around $139 a night.  The Rio had rates averaging $87 per night.  The Luxor was at $60 per night.  Bally's was at $80 per night.
