Joey Mantia [USA] and Bart Swings [BEL] each promise a payout of just shy of $30 for every $10 bet should they win Saturday's early morning (3:30 am ET) Mass Star in Speed Skating.
Mantia is a 28-time world champion, and a world record holder. He also won two gold medals at the 2003 Pan American Games and a gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games.
Mantia won the American Speed Skater of the Year award three times in a row, in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and the 2007 Elmer Ringeisen Sportsmanship Award. He also won two world titles at the inline skating championships in Colombia in 2010.
As of January 7, 2010, Mantia held the world records for the road race over 500 m (38.6 seconds), 10,000 m (13 minutes, 46.801 seconds) and 20,000 m (28 minutes, 56.189 seconds), and the world records for the track race over 300 m (24.250 seconds) and 15,000 m (22 minutes, 32.644 seconds).
Swings is a Belgian long track speed skater and multiple European and world champion inline speed skater. He is the world record holder on 10,000 m inline speed skating with 14:41.425.
At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he won a silver medal in the 1st ever Mass start at the Winter Olympics.
At the 2021 World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, he won bronze in the men's mass start, winning his first ever medal in a World Single Distances Speed Skating Championship event.
