Toronto-based hip hop star pocketed $300,000 in profit on a Super Bowl last Sunday after betting $1.3 million worth of Bitcoin using an unauthorized offshore wagering site.
That site is Stake.com. While they prohibit bets originating from the United States, Stake.com still appears to take bets from Canada. Ontario recently legalized online sports betting but only through licensed providers.
Bitcoin-focused sportsbooks are more inclined to allow for anonymous wagering accounts linked to wallets that are likewise anonymous.
But Drake didn't exactly keep it a secret that he placed such a huge Super Bowl bet.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the province-run regulatory agency, only allows its own Proline Plus app to operate as the online sportsbook.
Drake has not responded to the reports that began appearing late this past week.
