Texas Tech vs. Nevada 2008 Week 2 College Football Odds has the attention of the crack crew here at Gambling911.com as the betting public is all over Texas Tech.
Texas Tech heading into Thursday was the most bet on college football team with more than 95 percent of the betting action on Texas Tech even after the line was moved from -9 to -10 ½. This is a strong indication that the odds makers at Sportsbook.com believe the public is right on this one as their reaction with this aggressive line move speaks volumes.
Statistically speaking, last week Grambling did a pretty good job of getting the ball down the field (9.0 yards per attempt), but just couldn't run to save their lives which probably detracted from their overall effectiveness in the passing game (really, it probably would have suited Grambling better to just abandon the run last week, that that's another story). In any event, last year, Nevada was 86th in the nation in passing efficiency defense (135.52) and 76th in pass defense (240.77). To top it off, the Wolf Pack defense only returns strong safety Uche Anyanwu in the secondary. I'm not sold that Nevada can effectively stop the pass and I'm betting that they can't against Texas Tech.
Texas Tech is the second-highest ranked team to play at Mackay Stadium.
"You can't even compare," Nevada coach Chris Ault told the Nevada Appeal. "There is not even one Grambling player that could play for Tech."
Tech's offense is led by 2007 Sammy Baugh winner Graham Harrell, a third-year starter at quarterback, and wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who won the 2007 Biletnikoff Award.
"They (Tech) are the best offense to come to Nevada in recent memory," Ault said. "They have the No. 1 offense. He (Harrell) is poised.He's done a great job. Part of it is the system. It's really a fun offense."
The total on this game was 64 ½ heading into Thursday at Sportsbook.com and had even action.
Texas Tech was at +4000 to win the BCS Championship for a payout potential of $4000 with every $100 bet.
