What Are the Payout Odds for Barber Road to Win the Kentucky Derby?

Barber Road will pay out $3300 on a $100 bet should he go on to win the Kentucky Derby, but there might be an even better opportunity we discuss below.

No wins in his three graded races, but certainly can be considered for a trifecta bet.  He finished second in the Southwest Stakes and the all important Arkansas Derby.  He finished third in the Rebel Stakes.

The Arkansas Derby has proven to be the most successful of the Kentucky Derby prep races in terms of trifecta wins.  The Arkansas Derby winner finished among the top three in the Kentucky Derby six times over the period 2007 through 2017 with two wins, two seconds and two thirds.

Barber Road is trained by John A. Ortiz.

"I don't mind being this close to the outside," Ortiz said of his number 14 start position. "Reylu's going to be able to make the right decision leaving the gate - see what horses on our inside are going to end up going, and who's going to come around us on the outside. And I think we'll just sit in a nice pocket, and try to have a tactical ride, and try to save some ground, and from then on, Barber Road and Reylu are going to have to navigate through traffic."
