While the price is expected to be steep, the Dodgers still have pretty amazing betting value going up against the Pirates this week in Pittsburgh.

Did You Know?

  • LA has won the last 16 games against Pittsburgh
  • The Dodgers are 25-4 in the last 29 meetings versus Pittsburgh
  • Tony Gonsolin (scheduled to start on Tuesday) has allowed just two hits against Pirates batters in 17 at bats.

Pirates Star(ter)

Monday's price should be kept under -200 and we will be recommending the Dodgers for sure.

Pittsburgh starts their best pitcher this day, Dillon Peters.  He's allowed one hit and one walk while striking out four across 3.1 scoreless innings in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.

Peters does not have a loss on the season thus far.  He's 3-0. He has yet to allow an earned run across 16.2 frames while striking out 13 and walking six.

Mookie Betts is .400 versus Peters.  Trea Turner is two-for-three.

Dodgers to Start Julio Urias

Julio Urias scattered four hits across six scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-1 Dodgers win over the Giants but had a no decision prior to that game against the Diamondbacks.

Urias has permitted just 3 hits in 19 at bats vs. Pirates hitters (.073).  One was a homer.

Buehler Has Been Most Profitable

It's not believed he will be starting in this series but Walker Buehler has been solid for LA thus far in each of his last five starts.  The team has won in all but one of those games.

All were high priced favorites, mostly over -200.  Gamblers should be seeing a $250 profit assuming they bet $100 up to the price each time he started.  A loss to Atlanta as a -157 favorite cut into the profit for games in which Buehler started.

Power Rankings From ESPN

"The Dodgers have been right up there with the Mets as the best team in the National League through the first four weeks, and it seems as if they haven't hit their stride yet. Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Justin Turner and Max Muncy -- who usually make up the top six spots in the lineup -- have all struggled at a time when offense is remarkably down throughout the sport. And yet the Dodgers possess the highest run-differential in the majors. Pitching has mostly carried them, but the Dodgers boast a lineup that can rival the greatest throughout history. At some point, that will show up." -- Alden Gonzalez, ESPN

"The Pirates lost five of their past seven games after starting the season above .500. They hit .204 and produced just one home run in six games before Wednesday's win over Detroit, but their biggest problems come on the mound. Before Wednesday, the Pirates rotation was 0-10 with a 5.86 ERA on the season. Their team ERA hovered around 5.00 last week, hence a losing week in the standings. -- Jesse Rogers, ESPN
