Preakness Wagering Suffers With No Triple Crown Bid

There will be no Triple Crown bid in 2022.

For reasons only known to horses, the excitement of a potential Triple Crown run was squashed after the announcement that Rich Strike would not participate in this weekend's Preakness Stakes.

"It hurts the racebook tremendously," said Adam Burns, head of trading at SportsBetting.ag. "After the excitement the Kentucky Derby finish accumulated, not having Rich Strike in the Preakness field is disappointing for the books as well as the fans. The betting handle will be a fraction of what it would’ve been with him running."

Also missing, Kentucky Derby favorite Zandon, who finished 3rd at Churchill Downs.

Epicenter comes in as the Even odds favorite.  He finished 2nd at the Kentucky Derby.  Secret Oath comes in at 5-1 odds.  She finished first at the Kentucky Oaks.

Following Monday's Preakness Stakes post draw, SportsBetting.ag released updated odds for the nine-horse race.

Early Voting                5-1

Secret Oath                 5-1
