We the People was the 2-1 favorite coming into the 2022 Belmont Stakes with the morning odds.  His odds had been pushed to 6-1 by early afternoon.

We the People had a strong finish his last start at the Peter Pan.  He won't be running in the mud (Peter Pan was a sloppy track), something We the People is capable of.  The forecast was no longer calling for rain.

Mo Dengal was now the 5-2 favorite as of 1:30 pm ET.

Rich Strike comes in at 7-2 odds off his shock Kentucky Derby win.  Is he a fluke?  We'll find out Saturday.

The "It" factor here might be jockey Sonny Leon.

“He’s got a lot to think about,” retired jockey and NBC analyst Jerry Bailey said. “The Belmont’s different because you can actually affect the trip you get. In the Derby, they just outran him, so he just played the hand that was dealt to him. He can pretty much be in control of his own hand if he chooses to be because he’s not going to be nearly as far back, so he’s going to have to decide where he wants his horse early in the race and then when it comes time to move, when he actually moves, based upon how fast — or in this case maybe how slow they’ve been going.”

Nest is the only filly in the race comes off a second-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks behind Secret Oath.  The payout on Nest was 8-1, 9/2 by afternoon.

Creative Minister comes in at 6-1 odds to win the Belmont Stakes outright.   He's the favorite of handicapper and BetOnline All Access analyst Dick Jirardi
