All Star Game Tied After Nine Innings? What Happens to My Bet?

They just announced Tuesday that if the All-Star Game is tied after nine innings there will be a homerun hitting contest to determine the winner of the game.  The question is, what will happen to your bet as it's doubtful many of the sportsbooks have rules specific to this game.

Gambling911.com's Thomas Somach explained the process.

"Each team will supply three hitters for the contest and whoever gets the most homeruns wins game.

"So if the game is tied 3-3 after nine and the AL wins the homerun contest 2-1, is the final score 4-3 or 5-4? Would make a difference if you bet on the total of 7 1/2."

Somach offered up his hot winning trend for All-Star Games played on the West Coast earlier today.

"(The) All-Star game almost always goes under the total when it’s on the West Coast because the Game starts at 5 PM local time much of the game takes place during sunset when the ball is hard to see so hard to hit," Somach tells us.

In fact, all of the West Coast games were low scoring except for one.  There was another high scoring West Coast game but that was at the Kingdome in Seattle and indoors, therefore doesn't factor into this intriguing angle.

It should be noted that, in hockey if the game is tied 3 to 3 and it goes to a shoot out and one team wins the shoot out two to nothing, the final score is not 5 to 3 it is 4 to 3.

"I haven’t read anything about how baseball will handle this," Somach says.

There is likely to be plenty of controversy should it come down to this.

Somach is prepared to play the Amazing Kreskin once again.

"My prediction: if the tiebreaker homerun contest happens tonight and is popular with fans which it will be, I think MLB might go to this in the regular season."

He added: "It would be an exciting way to decide ties although they probably would not do it in the playoffs."
