Some 17.7 Million tuned in for the Thursday night Primetime hearings on the Jan. 6 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol., Down 11 Percent vs. the first primetime hearing.  Not bad actually considering this was airing in the heart of summer when there is very little on the boob tube and many folks are away enjoying their summer vacations.

This was also the second highest audience of the eight hearings that aired.

Simply put, there has been very little in the way of waning interest.

The Thursday primetime hearing aired across all major television networks and two of the big three cable news networks.  Fox News opted once again not to air the primetime hearing.  MSNBC had the biggest audience for any individual network with 4.88 million viewers tuning in, nearly double the ratings of Fox News.

CNN (0.66 rating) and ABC (0.65) led the key news demographic of adults 25-54 in primetime. NBC averaged 0.56, MSNBC 0.53 and CBS 0.42.

The big winner Thursday, outside of MSNBC, was none other than Ron DeSantis.

The Republican Governor of Florida was thrust into the favorite spot for 2024 US President after sitting around a half point off from former President Donald Trump just 24 hours prior.  It is Trump, after all, who is the primary focus of these hearings.

DeSantis was now listed at 3-1 odds along with Trump.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 committee, confirmed there would likely be more hearings come September.  She might only have a few more months in office should polls hold up for her August primary.  They show she is way down in the state of Wyoming, which was Trump's biggest margin of victory in 2020.
