The Mean Green should win at least 6 regular season games in 2022, according to oddsmakers at BetOnline.

North Texas does have a loaded offense entering 2022.  Eight starters return and there will be help from the transfer portal.

The quarterbacks have some solid receiving corps to throw to, but the QB position remains open.

Austin Aune guided the Mean Green on a five-game winning streak to finish the regular season and opted to return, but he was not always accurate.

“Until someone takes it, it’s Austin’s job,” coach Seth Littrel said. “That’s how it works. That’s how life and every position on this team works.”

The first few scrimmages of fall drills will likely determine whether Grant Gunnell has any shot to overtake Aune.

The running game has to replace 1,215-yard, 13 TD star DeAndre Toney as well.

Following a disastrous 2020, the 2021 defense improved dramatically, allowing 382 yards per game and just 5.7 yards per play.

It's a tough schedule but North Texas should win at least six.
