What Are the Regular Season Wins Total Odds for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons - 2022?
This year's Demon Deacons should be quite good with the oddsmakers posting a regular wins total at 8.5 and the OVER is priced at -150.
The schedule is certainly doable, though there are a few games that will likely give Wake Forest fits. These include Week 3 at home versus Clemson, the following week's game at a revamped FSU and certainly the November 12 game at North Carolina State. Even that game should have the Wolfpack a -5 favorite based on last year's team ratings. The Demon Deacons beat NC State at home last season by three points and they are 4-1 over the last five seasons against the Wolfpack.
Speaking of NC State, Wake Forest has faced them for 110 straight years and 2023 will mark the first time these two teams will not play one another.
"To see a game like that end is a negative," Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson remarked. "The NC State game is always a very important game."
Clawson finally had some well rounded success after failing to win more than 8 regular season games, this despite five bowl appearances. The Demon Deacons had an AP top-10 ranking, an ACC Atlantic Division title and 11 wins, including the Gator Bowl.
"People now when they play Wake Forest have a little more respect for who we are and what we've done," Clawson says. "There's been times we've been able to beat people who maybe didn't take us seriously. Those days are probably over."
And some great news: The team returns most of the players that made it all happen.
What to Know Before You Bet Wake Forest Demon Deacons Futures
- Improvement over last year's very successful season seems almost inevitable as the Deacons again return players with starting experience at almost every position while adding transfer FCS second-team All-American at defensive tackle Kobie Turner.
- The offense is averaging at least 30 points a game in each season since 2017.
- Last year, the Deacons averaged 41 points per game, fourth in the nation.
- The defense, however, was just 88th in scoring and 111th against the run.
- Though Wake Forest loses their top linesman and rusher, but will be replaced by two solid players who missed out on last season due to injuries: Receiver Donavon Greene and lineman Je'Vionte' Nash.
- Quarterback Sam Hartman was third in the nation in points, throwing for 4,228 yards, the sixth most in ACC history.
- Clemson will likely be a -4 point favorite at Wake Forest in Week 4.
- This team should have little trouble going OVER the 8.5 regular season wins in 2022.
