Mar-a-Lago Search Affidavit Set to be Released

A federal judge ruled that the Justice Department must release a redacted version of the Mar-a-Lago search warrant affidavit by noon ET Friday.

It was widely anticipated that much of the document will be redacted, though to what extent was unknown.

Mar-a-Lago is the Palm Beach, Florida residence of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The affidavit was filed by the DOJ when it sought a warrant to search the residence earlier this month.  The DOJ claims that documents, some of them believed to be classified, were removed by the former President from the White House during a hasty January 2021 departure.

The department's prosecutors opposed the release, citing the need for secrecy as the probe continues.

Trump is the co-favorite along with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to be the GOP nominee for President in 2024.
