Cavs Odds Shift Dramatically in Wake of Donovan Mitchell Trade

Likely the last major trade of the NBA offseason occurred On Thursday September 1 as Donovan Mitchell was dealt from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavs.

 

In exchange, Cleveland is sending guard Collin Sexton, forward Lauri Markkanen and rookie guard Ochai Agbaji along with three unprotected first-round picks to the Jazz.  The Jazz title odds have doubled from 250-1 to 500-1 in the wake of this news. 

Gamblers are likely to back the Cavs now.  They've moved dramatically from 50-1 odds to win the Eastern Conference to 12-1 Thursday.

Mitchell averaged 25.9 points per game last season, explaining why the oddsmakers are so reactive to this news.  Mitchell will pair in Cleveland with All-Star point guard Darius Garland.

When all is said and done, the Jazz will have the longest odds to win a championship title of any NBA team.
