Accusations That Herschel Walker Paid for Girlfriend's Abortion Could Affect GA Senate Odds

The news that "pro life" Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker paid for his girlfriend's abortion might not sit well with some of his constituents.

The Georgia Senate race remained within the margin of error ahead of Tuesday's news with Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock coming in as the slight favorite.  BetOnline pulled the GA Senate race odds off the board as of Tuesday morning.  It was not immediately clear whether the move was a result of a heavy surge of betting action on Warnock or simply a reaction to the day's news.

The woman at the center of this latest scandal has receipts and even a “get well” card allegedly given to her by the former football star.  Walker is running on the GOP ticket.

The Daily Beast has independently corroborated the woman’s story and was the first outlet to publish the accusations.  They spoke to a close friend who took care of her in the days following the procedure and also provided an image of a check apparently written out by the Republican Senate candidate.  Walker initially denied the claims and threatened to sue the Daily Beast.

From the DB:

The woman said Walker, who was not married at the time, told her it would be more convenient to terminate the pregnancy, saying it was “not the right time” for him to have a child. It was a feeling she shared, but what she didn’t know was that Walker had an out-of-wedlock child with another woman earlier that same year.

Asked if Walker ever expressed regret for the decision, the woman said Walker never had. Asked why she came forward, the woman pointed to Walker’s hardline anti-abortion position.

Further complicating the issue, Walker's own 23-year-old son, a Conservative social media influencer, blasted his dad.

"I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us," son Christian Walker said.

He continued: “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence."

In another tweet, he added: “I don’t care about someone who has a bad past and takes accountability. But how DARE YOU LIE and act as though you’re some ‘moral, Christian, upright man.’ You’ve lived a life of DESTROYING other peoples lives. How dare you.”

Appearing on Fox News' "Hannity" Monday night, Walker continued insisting the story was a lie.

“I never asked anyone to get an abortion. I never paid for an abortion, and it’s a lie. And I’m going to continue to fight,” Walker said.

The news comes at a time when one of the most likely net gain Senate races for Democrats, Pennsylvania, has tightened. The Democrat, John Fetterman, was still favored at -200 to win the PA Senate race.

Other potential net gains for Democrats still had long odds, including Florida at 6-1, North Carolina at 4-1, Wisconsin 3-1 and Ohio at 3-1.  The Dems are also in danger of losing in Nevada with their candidate now the underdog.
