These Are the Teams That Haven't Covered in College Football Heading Into Week 7

Teams that have yet to cover the spread coming into Week 7 of college football, regardless of how bad they might be, stand a much higher chance of doing so.  Oddsmakers are more likely to place overlays on these games if the team in question is a dog.

Gary Greene's Blue Book features two teams in college football that are yet to cover.

Colorado Buffaloes - The Buffaloes are yet to win a single game and they have not covered the spread either.  It's easy to see why.  Colorado has lost by double digits in each of their five games of the 2022 season.  In fact, they've lost by more than the current 15.5 spread in all of them.

The line on this game has only moved from +14 to +15.5.  They will play before a sellout crowd due to Family Weekend festivities.  Whether they are cheering on the home team remains to be seen.

The Buffaloes fired their head coach Karl Dorrell prior to last week's bye.  Mike Sanford Jr. will be serving as the interim coach.

It's interesting to note that players on teams where the head coach has gotten canned during the season have an immediate 30-day window to enter the portal.  In other words, time to get out and dodge.  Colorado's closes Nov. 1.

The team has thus far stayed remarkably intact.

"If you look around college football already, you're getting some people done with game four, game five of the season," said Sanford, who coached Western Kentucky in 2017 and 2018. "The portal is rapid. It's players that have played four games that are already kind of looking into, 'I've used my four games, I have a redshirt year, I'm going to go in the portal.'

"We got ahead of that. We talked about it, we spoke specifically about where you particularly stand and I was very candid, they were very candid, and I felt really good about just the entire team's willingness and desire to stay here."

California comes into this game 3-2 Straight Up and Against The Spread.

This line is right on the money as we get 15.92, but that doesn't leave a whole lot of wiggle room.

Does California get caught looking ahead to Washington?  Will Colorado be just a little hungrier for a win here?  We say yes and yes to both.  Granted, Colorado probably still loses by two touchdowns.

Fresno State Bulldogs - Fresno State has won just one game this season.  They are a +8.5 home underdog hosting San Jose State.  The visitors have only lost a single game and are 4-1 Against The Spread.

Fresno State has either won outright or lost by no more than two points against San Jose State in their last five meetings.

We get a number of 7.39.  That leaves us with a slight 1-point overlay.

Do bet on Fresno State +8.5 being another team very hungry for a win versus a team they match up well against.

Keep in mind that this will only be the Bulldogs third home game.  They won their first 35-7 versus Cal Poly and lost the second by just three points against Oregon State.  The Beavers rank among the top 40 teams on Sagarin's power ratings.
